| Contribuintes em débito com os tributos municipais, anteriores a dezembro de 2005, terão até o dia 28 de dezembro para negociarem as dívidas. O pagamento do IPTU, ISS e ITBI poderá ser feito por pessoa física ou jurídica em até 240 meses. O contribuinte que preferir quitar a dívida por meio da cota única terá 15% de desconto. A medida é baseada na Lei no 5.819/01 e visa promover a justiça fiscal e social no município. De acordo com o secretário de Fazenda, Paulo Roberto Patuléa, a negociação da dívida evita o pagamento de custas e taxas judiciais. "Seremos implacáveis nas cobranças dos tributos. O aumento da arrecadação municipal garante mais investimentos em saúde, educação e em obras para gerar mais qualidade de vida para a população. Pagar os impostos em dia é exercitar a cidadania", declarou. A ação da Secretaria de Fazenda, em parceria com a Procuradoria, prevê que 30 mil imóveis serão ajuizados nos próximos dias. De acordo com Patuléa, 120 imóveis, com débitos há mais de cinco anos, estão passíveis de penhora judicial e outros 10, localizados no centro e bairros, serão levados a leilão. O andamento dos processos judiciais, no entanto, não impede que o contribuinte regularize sua situação. Todos podem procurar a Secretaria de Fazenda para negociar as dívidas e colocar os tributos em dia. "Ações já ajuizadas podem ser suspensas ou mesmo extintas mediante a realização do parcelamento da dívida ou havendo pagamento integral do débito. É preciso que o inadimplente demonstre ao município interesse em resolver o problema. As condições de parcelamento são flexíveis", afirmou Patuléa. Só no ano passado, mais de quatro mil contribuintes regularizaram o pagamento dos impostos. A expectativa do município é que o mesmo número de pessoas procure a secretaria este ano. "O governo faz a sua parte com a realização de obras e incentivando a compra de produtos na cidade para que os recursos não saiam de Petrópolis. Agora é a vez da população fazer a sua parte", disse Patuléa. A Secretaria de Fazenda funciona de segunda a sexta-feira, das 12h30 às 18h30, na Rua Dezesseis de Março, 183.
